The concept of masking to explore the degree to which women reveal or obscure themselves as they navigate the world around them.
How we as women can alter our expressions to react to a situation.
This painting reveals the many masks one could use: delight, envy, joy, surprise, sadness, non-committal. Each mask is represented by both color and design such as "Green with Envy" or "jester" creating a joyful energy or "tear drop" suggesting sadness.
And if you look closer, you will see two chameleons, one on her left shoulder and one on her flowing cloth along her right hip. These chameleons suggest the ability to shift color as the situation changes.
